For an unforgettable wildlife experience, add-on an animal encounter to your park entry ticket. We have an array of different wildlife encounters, all guided by one of our experienced keepers. Encounters are exclusive and the wellbeing and respect of our animals and your safety are our first priority. Encounters have a maximum number each day so we advise you to pre-book so you don't miss out.

Baby Devil Encounter

These little devils are cheeky and adorable! Enjoy the rare opportunity to get up close and pat a Tasmanian Devil in a natural setting.

Available from Mid September

Seasonal: Mid September - February

    • 15 minute encounter led by one of our zookeepers

    • You can take as many photos and videos as you like

    • You will be able to pat the joey under the discretion of the zookeeper

    • $70 per person + park entry

    • Maximum 4 people per session

    • Minimum age 6 years old

Echidna Encounter

Did you know an echidna can swim? It uses its long beak with its nostrils on the tip just like a snorkel! The spikes on an echidna are called quills and are basically modified hair. You can learn more interesting facts when you book an echidna encounter.

    • 15 minute encounter led by one of our zookeepers

    • You can take as many photos and videos as you like

    • Sit and observe the echidna feeding with its super long 12cm sticky tongue, depending on the animal’s behaviour you can pat the quills

    • $60 per person + park entry

    • Maximum 4 people per session

    • Minimum age 6 years old

Wombat Encounter

Did you know a wombat’s cousin is the koala? Book an encounter where you can join our keepers to see one of Tasmania’s icons, the bare-nosed wombat, maybe even give them a bum scratch and learn why they have square poo!

Availability: All Year

    • 15 minute encounter led by one of our zookeepers

    • You can take as many photos and videos as you like

    • Enter the wombats home where you will be able to pat them and give them a bum scratch (their favourite)

Sugar Glider Encounter

Have you ever seen a sugar glider? Even if you have, have you had one climb all over you? They will soon become your favourite animal if you do!

Availability: All Year

    • 15 minute encounter led by one of our zookeepers

    • You will have an array of treats to feed them provided by our zookeeper
