Glow Tour

Glow Tour is the most unique way to view Australian animals in Tasmania, this Winter. Hosted by Dr Lisa Gershwin, voted a ‘Top 100 Australian scientist’, don’t miss this hands-on, after dark exploration of natural biofluorescence.

What to Expect

See Australian animals in a different light this Winter! Your ticket will secure you a place in a small group tour of East Coast Natureworld, after dark.

Guided by biologist, Dr Lisa Gershwin and a Natureworld keeper, you will experience the incredible phenomenon of natural biofluorescence.

Shine your supplied UV torch at a selection of animals which may include spotted quolls, Tasmanian devils, golden possums, parrots, owls and a few surprise guests to see them glow in the dark!

HURRY! Glow Tour runs from 28th June - 15th July, four nights a week, Friday - Monday.

  • Friday 28th June - Monday 1st July

    Friday 5th July - Monday 8th July

    Friday 12th July - Monday 15th July

  • Each tour will include a brief introduction on animal fluorescence by scientist Dr Lisa Gershwin, then Lisa and a Natureworld wildlife keeper will lead a walking tour around Nature World to see what's glowing. Each person will be provided with an ultraviolet (UV) light that they can use to fluoresce animals and plants around Natureworld. There will be opportunity to view many animals which may include possums, a wombat, sugar gliders, spotted quolls, Tasmanian devils and a selection of birds depending on which species are feeling curious on the night. Meet inside East Coast Natureworld reception area.

  • Glow Tour is for everyone! Adults, children, families and groups are welcome. There are no age restrictions but we suggest that children should be about 4+ to have maximum enjoyment of the tour. Children under 3 are free but will not be given a UV torch to hold. The tour involves walking through Natureworld in the dark on sometimes uneven surfaces. If you have additional needs, phone us before the tour so we can make Glow Tour a great experience for everyone.

  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the ticketed start time so you can check-in comfortably.

  • Yes! East Coast Natureworld has a large customer carpark which you are free to use.

  • Glow Tour is approximately 90 minutes long.

  • Please dress in warm, comfortable clothing suitable for the weather. Flat, closed-toed shoes are essential. The tour will continue in all-weather so please bring a waterproof rain jacket if rain is forecast. Please bring a regular torch or head torch to help you navigate the carpark and wildlife park in the dark (a UV torch for viewing the animals will be supplied). You may also like to bring a camera.

  • As Glow Tour is conducted after our regular opening hours, our cafe will be closed. If you are coming straight from Bicheno Beams, you are welcome to bring a snack or takeaway meal and eat it in our cafe before your tour commences (please allow adequate time).

  • Yes you can! We have timed the tours so you can enjoy both tours on the same evening, if you wish. A discounted combo ticket is available to customers who book both tours on the same evening.

“You simply won't believe your eyes: bandicoots, possums, wallabies and quolls in vibrant pinks and greens! Devils with blue ears! Stick insects in orange and blue!”

East Coast Natureworld acknowledges and pays respect to the palawa Tasmanian Aboriginal people as the Traditional Owners of lutruwita Tasmania. We remember and honour their elders, past, present and emerging as the continuing custodians of the land we walk on during Glow Tour.
