Coal mine Heritage Display
Catch up on your East Coast historyAt the time of Federation, Tasmania was producing 60,000 tonnes of coal annually. Many visitors to the East Coast are drawn to the beauty of the coastline and are unaware of the rich history that has shaped this region. Visitors can read up on how coal mining came to the East Coast, in the 1850’s while they take a walk through the mine re-creation and see for themselves the conditions of the workers.
A huge display of mining equipment completes an amazing exhibition. What’s the wind sock for? And where did the horse go with coal trucks? What is coal anyway? |
